The cross-city line is one of the busiest rail routes into Birmingham. Passenger demand for services is increasing with morning and evening peak time travel expected to rise above the current level of capacity.
To help prepare for this growth we are proposing to upgrade the branch line between Redditch and Birmingham so that an extra train service can run every hour. This will increase capacity on the line by a third.
