Bridgeguard Project

We are now looking for exceptional professionals who can help us to strengthen and replace our road over rail bridges so that they can carry modern 40 and 44 tonne heavy good vehicles, as part of our Bridgeguard3 programme.

Project engineers, commercial managers, site managers, a planner, a buyer and scheme project managers (design and utilities) are currently needed in the London North Western Territory. They will be based in Birmingham and work on projects from London to Carlisle. The individual projects vary in size from £250,000 to £5m and range from repairing brickwork on arch bridges to re-constructing two, three or four span overbridges.

Novel construction techniques will be required because many of the works will be carried out in road and railway closures. The projects will include full bridge reconstructions, strengthening with advanced composite materials and simple repairs. The bridges are a mixture of cast iron beams, brick arches, riveted metallic beams and relatively modern concrete beam decks. The ongoing programme is valued between £25 to £30 million per year, with the average scheme valued at around £1 million.
